I never really was interested in the first Guild Wars, but I’m thinking about giving number 2 a shot. I just don’t understand why they don’t expand on their original game rather than making a new MMO and slapping a “2″ on it. For example, I was a big EverQuest player for years. Then Sony Online Entertainment released EverQuest 2 (I was actually in the closed beta for some time also) and it just wasn’t they same. I was so set in the mechanics of the first that I didn’t much care for the changes. Even if they were an improvement. Maybe the gaming industry is taking notes from the movie industry.

A study was conducted from a sample group of gamers in the Western Washington (the state) area and found them to be overweight and depressed. The Ars Technica article points out sampling issues surrounding the conclusions. In all, gamers may not be much different than your typical non-gamer.

I’m seriously considering subscribing to World of Warcraft: The Magazine. I haven’t had a print subscription to anything in over ten years.

A trailer for the classic side-scrolling platform goodness. Somehow I’ve managed to miss hearing about this game. It looks great and sticks to the old Mario Bros. roots.

I remember watching this show as a kid. You’ll especially like the part where the Bush administration is to blame for the shows lack of funding.

P2P is down during peak internet usage hours. Probable cause? ISP manipulation. Bardstown Cable Internet manipulates traffic between 4PM – 11PM each day. Just start up a torrent during these times. You’ll get an error that you cannot connect to the tracker. Really sucks when I’m trying to download a WoW patch after I get home from work.

I read Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr’s blog from time to time. He is the president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. In this blog post, he states his position regarding women in front line U.S. military combat. He basically states that “the most important argument against the service of women in combat is moral.” An interesting read. And no, I don’t agree with his position.
